HYERES FESTIVAL

 

From the 25th- 28th April 2o14 the Hyères International Festival of Fashion and Photography will take over the Mediterranean coastline for the 29th time. The Villa Noailles will again showcase a selection of young, talented fashion designers and photographers.

Both international and unmissable, the Festival will be chaired by Carol Lim and Humberto Leon (of Kenzo, Opening Ceremony); it will gather professionals from both industries around tables, exhibitions and catwalks to unsettle and question the status quo.

Ten stylists and ten photographers (selected from 312 contenders) will be judged by a panel of the biggest names from these innovative sectors.

To satisfy customer demand increasingly rejecting the rules of fashion in the capital, Aurélyen, the founder and self-educated designer for the Misericordia label, chose to open a 55m2 boutique in the Charonne area in Paris. 

Refined decoration reflects the importance attached to aesthetics and beauty by Aurélyen. The confessional 19th century black oak stands at the back of the store, where trying on clothes becomes a quirky experience. In addition to fashion, photos and films, silkscreen printing - which he learnt in Lima - is another form of art found in the 11th arrondissement boutique in the form of a manually printed poem in white font on a black floor which tells the label’s story.

The Misericordia project is a human endeavour that brings together the fundamental values of dialogue, education, know-how and craftsmanship. The collective, made up of highly-skilled technicians and learning craftsmen, is based in Peru.

LA MAIN DANS LE SAC EXHIBITION

Proof that French production can satisfy the inventiveness of designers, the new ‘La Main dans le Sac” exhibition, created by the Fédérations Françaises de la Maroquinerie et de Ganterie, will take place in BHV MARAIS, staged as a showcase on the rue des Archives in Paris, from the 5th February to 8th March 2014, after having been previewed at WHO’S NEXT from the 25th to 28th January.

La Main dans le Sac” highlights the contents of a woman’s bag. The exhibition brings together the creativity of ten trade show designers and the expertise of French glovers and leather craftsmen: From an iPad cover to a small leather goods item, or even a glasses case or a pair of gloves, the designers design objects which are the fruits of their imaginations. 

The designs will be exclusively presented in a display in the store, and some will be available to buy.

Who has never stopped outside the Galeries Lafayette window displays while wandering in Paris?

During the month of January, the Galeries Lafayette window displays are the colours of the Paris Capitale de la Création.

This organisation gathers the most important professional trade shows, which are all united by the same spirit of discovery, celebration and research. Paris Capitale de la Création has become the voice for emerging designers, as top-name references. The year’s designers chosen by each participating trade show are the reflection of the great dynamic that brings Paris to life. Their work aimed at excellence and emotion is shown in the Galeries Lafayette window displays. A time for the public to exclusively discover a selection of labels.
 
There, WHO'S NEXT will present Osklen and the trade shows PREMIERE CLASSE and DON'T BELIEVE THE HYPE will present MeilleurAmi and W/Sün respectively:
 
Osklen will exhibit a selection of its Summer 2014 models in linen, cotton and silk for women at the Galeries Lafayette.
 
MeilleurAmi will present its floral, parrot or Roaring Twenties print silk and cotton "Snood" scarves; as well as a holdall available in saffron or red.
 
W/Sün will present the innovative BOIS2 line, patented and marketed after 5 years of research: the 100% biodegradable BOIS2 material is a combination of recycled wood and bio acetate.
 
W/Sün and MeilleurAmi products are sold on the ground floor in a pop-up-store of the Porte Mogador and Osklen products on the second floor of the Galeries Lafayette.
